Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to commemorate the brand's centennial. It is made from Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight, keys, and an original 1930s booklet that features never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

As a company that is primarily focused on design, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It shows in the precision placement of its quilting, the selection of leather from by-products of cattle, the wood from sustainable forests and the ingenious patterns that are etched on its levers. When you drive by a car like the Continental GT W12, its exquisite design is revealed through carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is bentley key fob programming's most sophisticated open-top car. Design

Alongside a series of stylishly executed styling changes, the Mulsanne is powered by twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that can produce 560bhp and 479lb ft of torque. This incredible power is complemented by a new suspension design that offers Bentley's trademark hushed ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification called the Centenary Specification for cars that were built in 2019. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests and seats as well as other areas of the car. This is a great way to celebrate the occasion. The Centenary Specification also includes a personalized Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key has two buttons that open the trunk, and the second which starts the vehicle. It also has a switch to activate the parking break. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spots. This feature makes it easier to get into and out of your car.

The key is made of vegetable tanned leather. It takes about two days to create each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed and sealed, then polished to achieve a high-quality result. It is light and compact, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to that of the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a more premium feel.

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of keys with no key. This device is inserted into the remote-control fob and disables it if the key is not used for more than a few minutes. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can be used to open and start the car.

Bentley's unique design reflects the values of the company which include exquisite craftsmanship, engineering expertise and cutting-edge technology. The headquarters in Crewe is home to more than 4000 employees who are responsible for the design, development, and production of Bentley vehicles. These workers apply skills that have been passed through generations to modern automotive technologies. This is a characteristic of British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their own car. The "mood station" allows guests to select images that inspire them. These could range from scenic vistas and sporting events. Each time a selection is made the pattern that emerges will reveal the model preference for color, style and design for the bespoke Bentley.

The resulting configuration is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys which are presented to guests in a custom key case. The keys can also be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps, which illuminate the door-opening path with the owner's name or emblem as they arrive at the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a deliberate decision to adopt the latest technology. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built in sensors guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spots, drivers have to perform the task by hand.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities with the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays homage to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited-edition cars have 100 of them. one key that features an image of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
