Place the new battery in the socket once the old one is removed. Make sure that the positive side is facing upwards and that it's seated in all the clips. Then slide the cover back towards the key-ring loop section until it is loose and then slides off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. This is a way to unlock your vehicle by the driver's side doors if the key fob battery is dead or lost.

Note: Some older Volvo models use another type of battery that is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of a millimeter less than a CR2032 battery, so you must be extra careful when placing the battery of the replacement.
