French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators come with stylish double doors that open to an enormous fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, high-end ice machines and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the rest.

We consulted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the best french style fridge freezer uk one. We looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that the GE Profile series is geared towards consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge features in their kitchen. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive, so I expected better.

It has a decent-sized refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. However it's not the most spacious one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a a custom storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is good-looking, too. Its LED lighting is a nice touch and the inside storage bins come with the third shelf, which folds down so that you can store tall items. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open, but I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the all the features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and it has many options for customizing. It also alerts you when doors are left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a few other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to disperse at once. The fridge displays a countdown timer to show you how much water is left, but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Created to appear like a seamless piece of your kitchen Bosch's French-door refrigerator looks seamless and is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher longer and has dual compressors for the best preservation of food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient and produces an ice pyramid with only a little water. This refrigerator is a great choice for single household or kitchenettes that want a built-in look and top-of-the-line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving more than a fraction of an inch. This is essential in preventing freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour and maintained that temperature throughout our testing.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great option for those who require lots of space within the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features a standard French-door layout with gallon-sized door bins at each door, two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set more spacious drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more space. There's also a full-width drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the best features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is inside the freezer, making it easy to move frozen ice to the fridge to be used when it is required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate container for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. It allows you to manage the refrigerator's temperature as well as lighting via your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't enhance the efficiency of the fridge. The refrigerator took longer to chill food and defrost it than the other fridges we tested. This could be due to the bigger capacity.

Another issue with the door of this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little cheaper than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually as other models but it does have enough features to make it a good option. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. The drawer allows you to divert a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can put away food items that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider located outside the drawer. You can you put a french press in the fridge also use this feature to set a general cooling level for the entire fridge though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite be among the top in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of grey-bodied stainless steel that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
