Top Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

While robots can't replace a traditional vacuum for picking up ground-in debris like metal screws and pieces of orzo pasta, they're great in sweeping dust, crumbs and pet hair. The best models are equipped with intelligent navigation systems, which helps them avoid cords, toys and other household obstacles.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a great robot vacuum that has several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the most impressive features we've seen in a robot vacuum. It is a great choice for carpets and hard floors. It's also easy to install and use and the app will guide you step-by-step through the process. Its ability to resumptuate where it left off during our tests is another impressive feature. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning before the battery ran out.

Unlike some of the other robovacs we've tested, the i3+ EVO has an automatic emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's filled. This makes it easier to maintain the unit and helps keep the i3+ EVO from overfilling, however it must be manually cleaned after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's inner dust bin can hold 2.4L of trash and is more than enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before needing to replace it.

Similar to the i7, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only keep one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones however, not the i3+ EVO.

The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris compared to some other robovacs that we have examined, but it's not the best at cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture despite being relatively silent. It pulled chairs away from walls and caused some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and got stuck on cords and toys during our testing.

2. Black & Decker Pro Q5

If you're looking to increase your collection of robot floor cleaner vacuums or are just starting out, the Q5 Pro is a great option. It packs a lot of power, a smart navigation system and a user-friendly automation into a slick design for a reasonable price. It's the best model for the money on the market right now and is even better than other Roborock models which are much more expensive in a variety of ways.

This robot is fantastic at cleaning floors that are bare, and its avoidance tech helps it to steer away from furniture legs or other obstacles. It also excels on carpets, and earns an excellent score in our tests of navigation. It's only downside is that it's more noisy than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.

The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin of 770ml, meaning that you won't need to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute running time is also a lot when compared to other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. When the battery is low, it will automatically return to its dock, where it recharges and then resumes cleaning where it left off.
