1. Neato Botvac D4

If you're looking for the convenience of a robot vacuum without having to make too many sacrifices in terms of performance, then this Neato is a good option. The D4 offers an excellent mapping and navigation feature and smart home integration and a user-friendly app, all at an affordable price that won't break your budget.

To create this bot, you must plug it into its base and connect it to your Wi-Fi network at home. Once you've done that then the Neato application will guide you through an initial configuration (linking to Wi-Fi and naming the D4, etc.). After it's fully charged you can then start a cleaning cycle.

Once you've got the D4 running, you can make use of the app to create an automatic schedule or manually begin a clean anytime you like. You can also control it using your voice using Google Home or Amazon Alexa. If you own an Apple Watch you can start cleaning by tapping the wrist.

In our tests, this model cleaned well on both hard and carpeted flooring It picked up 91.3% of debris combined in serpentine paths. It's not as efficient in removing dirt from corners and edges as more expensive models. The D4's side sensors keep it around 1.5 inches away from walls. It is also the most powerful vacuum. It is able to clean up the dirt that has deeper particles or more pet hairs unlike other midrange models such as the Roomba 960. This is because of the cleaner's bigger counter-rotating brushes as well as a more powerful motor that can pull more suction power.

The Roomba 995 is also iRobot's lowest-cost vacuum, with recharge and resume, but it doesn't come with the auto-empty system that both the I6+ and I7 offer. It lacks iAdapt navigation 2.0 and the camera used by the I7 to locate objects and avoid obstructions. It isn't able to access features such as in-app containment or save maps.
