It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it from start to stop by speaking to it.

The design is also better than the other models. It has a sleek, high-end piece that appears like an toy, not the loud and annoying robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System self-empties, which is great to reduce the time spent cleaning.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ swiftly eliminated dirt, dust and pet hair. The rubber brushes that counter-rotate kept the debris in place, rather than scattering it around the automatic floor cleaning machine. It even could capture sand and small gravel, which most other robots couldn't do. And all of this without getting caught in our pet's hair shed.

The j7+, though not as smart as the Roomba S9 for $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and cannot clean the stairs, is still a good option for those who need both a vacuum and a mop. It's not expensive and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly.

Although the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly however, we've found it to be less reliable than other apps that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and often it's hard to determine whether the update actually working until you see it in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you want a robot vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean your floors then a hybrid is the ideal choice. These robots come with a water tank, so they can vacuum and mop at the same time. They also have a range of extra features, including smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance, and even the capability to dry and wash mopping pads. They're costly at full retail but often come down in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not fail to impress. This is their least expensive auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with certain features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing sacrifice a little to save hundreds of dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles such as wall legs and table legs, which makes it an excellent choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in getting rid of dust bunnies which is a problem which many robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The Q5+'s navigation system is excellent, with few misses on walls and corners.

The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by just a few buttons on the device or via the Roborock App. The app lets you begin and stop cleanings and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map or change the labeling of rooms.

If you opt for the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once in place, emptying the bin is done with relative ease. It has a large LCD screen that is very useful when setting up schedules and changing settings. This isn't a necessary feature for the majority of people but it can help you keep track of the maintenance intervals for your robot effortlessly.

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design and features are among the top available however it's expensive.

Its base station looks good and is hidden when it's not in use, and the size is quite compact. But the station's main selling feature is the way it automatizes various tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It stores clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which most other robovacs require you to do) and empty the dust bin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive as well. It's one of the few robot vacuums I've tested that does very well at collecting debris from plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially in the area of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robotvacs. This means it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the house. It's not able navigate stairs as well as competitors, and it doesn't have a dock that allows the user to set up a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.

If you're looking to cut costs or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are many other options on the market. Many of the eufy models cost significantly less.
